When the student gets to see you demonstrating and they experience for themselves the passage you showed, that is a much more effective way of teaching than just explaining.

Music is a combination of sound and movement, and they are inseparable. When the student understands how the music should sound, how it should feel, and how to do it successfully, they will feel capable and most likely they will practice.

Our job as piano teachers and nurtures of music is to ensure there are no blocks along the way that will stop the student from trying and giving their best during and after the lesson.

Musicians spend the majority of their practice time by themselves, so it is important to always be looking for collaborative experiences to enrich our music experiences. Playing in piano ensembles is only one of the many ways we can collaborate with one another.

In today's blog, we share Beethoven's Piano Sonata for Four Hands in D major, Op. 6. It has only two movements, with the Allegro Molto and Rondo Moderato.

Enjoy! :)
